How to Rank On Google Page 1 Result For Your Name (Step by Step Instructions)

Today I will be sharing a case study of how I ranked my own name on the front page and #1 position of the Google SERP. ...And unless your name is Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods or any other famous celebrity figure, you can follow the same process I followed and claim your name on the top spot of search engine results (and stay there) Benefits of Ranking Your Name On the #1 Spot On Google Personally, I don't think there is anything more dreadful for an up and coming entrepreneur, job seeker or anyone for that matter than having their most embarrassing moments or past experiences which they wish not to share anymore to be put on blast on the front page of Google results! When you go for a job interview and a potential employer Googles your name to do a brief background check on you and find a "not so appealing" portrayal of you (even if it is something you did in the past and now regret), they will instantly form an opinion about you based on that.

Unfair?

Probably. But this is the reality.

Like the late Jim Rohn would say, people will judge you based on first impressions and outward appearances. No need to deal with "should and shouldn't" he would say. It is just human nature.

But instead of having a disappointing first impression when a potential employer Googles your name, what if they see something like this instead...

Ranking on the top results on Google for your first and last name (and last and first name) helps ensures you are putting your best foot forward when you are been Googled by potential employers or clients.

Ranking #1 is important because the top search engine result gets over 32.5% of the clicks, while the 2nd and 3rd results gets 17.6% and 12% respectively and it goes lower and lower from there. (Source 1 and Source 2)

A final benefit of ranking for your name is that, it is also a great opportunity to prove to a potential employer or client that you take your career seriously.

If you are interviewing for a job, this definitely makes you stand out heads and shoulders above other job applicants.

You will instantly catapult yourself to the top of the interviewer's lists and remain top of their mind.

The best part about doing all this?

It is almost free to do!

With Google AdWords, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.

You don't pay for just "showing up there". This means you can literally claim that piece of online real estate and sit on it until a potential employer or client comes to "check you out".

And since it rarely gets any searches (again unless you share the same name with a popular celebrity), you can climb on the top of the Search Engine Result Page very quickly and just stay there, paying next to nothing for it.

So now that you know of the benefits of ranking for your name on the SERP, let's explore "how" you go about doing it.

For those that wants a "quick glance" on how I did it, I will put the screenshot photos of the steps I took. However I will also do a video review and place it at the end of this article for those who wish to dig deeper into how I did it.

So here we go...

To begin, Create a New Campaign in Google AdWords

Now Let's Create a New Ad Group in Google AdWords

Now Let's Create Our Sitelinks Extensions

According to Google, adding ad extensions gives your ads 10-15% more click throughs. Put simply, ads with multiple extensions often perform better than ads with only one extension or worse no extensions at all.

Here are examples of ad extensions on my ad

Like they say, "All good thing must come to an end" :)

Hope you really got some value from this case study.

I will make the video version of this post and upload it soon. Stay tuned :)
